The Right Tool
March 10, 2006
Frank Bulk's recent blog "Wireless Propagator: In-Building Wireless" is well-written and clearly defines the issues (sexy or not) in the in-building wireless industry. Although who is ultimately accountable for network design and coverage isn't clearly delineated at many companies, there are tools that can make the design and commissioning of these networks easier. (In fact, I work with a company that has developed software specifically for in-building wireless network designs.)
Today's propagation tools don't have all the capabilities to create complete design packages that can be shared across the industry. Since these networks will and must be rolled out and since cell phones aren't going away, these new software tools just make the job easier.
