McAfee Rolls Out Enterprise Intrusion Prevention Systems

McAfee has introduced new network Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) products designed to protect large and mission-critical networks operating at multi-gigabit speeds against known, zero-day, encrypted and Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.

The McAfee IntruShield 4010 and McAfee IntruShield 3000 IPS sensors are targeted at large-scale enterprises and service providers who need highly scalable, multi-Gigabit security deployments. The products are designed for both network core and service provider cloud-based deployment. They include 12 Gigabit monitoring ports, performance up to 2 Gbps and support for High-Availability network deployments.

"With the continuing discovery and exploitation of new threats, the stakes are high for today's business security requirements. McAfee's IntruShield intrusion prevention appliances address multi-gigabit requirements for service providers, carriers and large-scale enterprises networks," Charles Kolodgy, research director at IDC said in a statement.

The McAfee IntruShield 4010 and McAfee IntruShield 3000 will be available in February from McAfee.
