IBM Unveils Latest 'On-Demand' Tech Center

IBM on Monday unveiled a technology lab for customers looking to test the company's products for managing computer resources based on business demands.

The Gaithersburg, Md., center is meant to help customers test provisioning and orchestration technologies found in IBM's Tivoli line of systems-management products, IBM said.

IBM's so called "on-demand" technologies allow customers to automatically configure and provision applications and resources based on pre-determined business rules, which enable the systems to sense and respond to information technology needs based on changes in a company's business operation, the Armonk, N.Y., company said.

"IBM's new orchestration and provisioning center allows us to work one-on-one with our customers to help them achieve a new level of intelligence in their data center," Al Zollar, general manager for IBM Tivoli Software, said in a statement.

At the tech lab, customers can simulate their IT environments in order to test IBM products, such as Tivoli Intelligent Orchestrator, Tivoli Monitoring, Tivoli Enterprise Console, Tivoli Configuration Manager and TotalStorage Virtualization.
