Mobile device management provider AirWatch has introduced mobile application management (MAM) software to help enterprises manage apps on both corporate- and user-owned mobile devices. AirWatch MAM lets IT administrators manage internal, public and purchased applications across employee, corporate and shared devices by tying in with the AirWatch Enterprise App Catalog. Administrators use the catalog to distribute, track and update enterprise applications over-the-air.
AirWatch also announced an SDK to let enterprise developers add security and management features to mobile apps developed in-house. Developers can use the SDK to incorporate jailbreak detection, certificate provisioning, directory authentication using either Active Directory or LDAP, and the ability to define custom settings for apps. According to InformationWeek's 2013 Mobile Device Management and Security survey, 27% of respondents use custom business apps, and another 35% say they plan to.

New York's Identropy has launched SCUID Lifecycle, a cloud-based identity provisioning and management service for both on-premise and cloud-based applications. The service includes access request, workflow, provisioning, automated de-provisioning and access recertification. SCUID Lifecycle uses the same intellectual property as the company's Secure Cloud Unified Identity (SCUID) identity-as-a-service platform, which includes self-service access request, password management, provisioning, identity governance and compliance services.
The SaaS-based SCUID Lifecycle service comes pre-configured with a battery of processes, connectors and workflows based on the company's previous customer engagements to make it quick and easy to set up and manage user access to an array of enterprise applications without significant investment in hardware and infrastructure. SCUID Lifecycle is available immediately; pricing starts at $7 per user per month. Identropy hosts the multitenant service in its own private cloud.
SingleHop
Chicago-based cloud hosting company SingleHop unveiled a new service, Security Accelerator, to help enterprises and manage security requirements, including industry regulations such as PCI and HIPAA, in hosted and multitenant environments. The company said Security Accelerator means enterprises no longer have to manually identify, purchase, integrate and configure third-party products to comply with these standards.
Security Accelerator's features include an automated PCI scan that alerts users to vulnerabilities in software and operating systems, two-factor authentication to components hosted by SingleHop, and firewall management and user management. The centralized service also provides the ability to set up private networks for systems that aren't permitted to be accessible via the Internet. Pricing starts at $50 per month for cloud servers and $149 per month for dedicated servers.
