Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for your interest in our Network Computing Cloud Computing Comparison: IaaS Providers. The decision to move an IT function from your data center to a public cloud-based service is a significant one. In this guide, we profile top IaaS vendors and provide highly detailed matrixes to facilitate comparisons of these services in key areas including basic features, such as supported OSes and databases; pricing for VMs, storage and data transfers; security; and service and support plans.

Q. Does my company qualify to be listed?

A. To participate in the Network Computing Cloud Computing Comparison: IaaS Providers you must offer self-service provisioning of virtual machines and storage via API or Web control panel in the public cloud, without the need to interact with an engineer or salesperson.

Q. How do we get our IaaS offering included?

A. Download the features matrix and fill it in, then send the completed matrix to Andrew Conry-Murray or Lorna Garey. Note that incomplete questionnaires will be returned. You must provide base pricing information; if you do not offer a feature, indicate that with a "No" or "N/A" rather than leaving fields blank. Feel free to embed links to more detailed pricing or feature info.

Q. As a vendor, can we send some of our own material?

A. Yes, you can submit links to whitepapers, webcasts and videos related to your IaaS offering.

Q. What if we add new features after we've filled out the questionnaire or want to adjust our response?

A. To request an update to your entry, please contact Lorna Garey or Andrew Conry-Murray and indicate the new or changing information, or simply send a new features matrix and we will swap it in.

Q. Why isn't my favorite vendor included?

A. Because it has not submitted a matrix; this guide is open to all IaaS vendors that meet our criteria.

Q. As an IT pro, how can I figure out what buying criteria matter most for my company?

A. Our full report on IaaS provides information on selecting an IaaS vendor. Also check out our report on 9 Vital Questions on Moving Apps To the Cloud. Our Public Cloud Tech Center provides ongoing coverage as well.

Q. How are the results sorted?

A. The sort order of our company listings is based first on how many UBM Tech events a company is exhibiting at, and second on alphabetical order. UBM Tech is the parent to Network Computing. Contact us here for more information on exhibiting at UBM Tech events (and raising your visibility on this chart!).
