HP's Converged Infrastructure Branches Out: Page 2 of 2

Just days after making storage, server and competitive mid-market announcements as part of its Converged Infrastructure strategy, HP is at it again with a number of new product launches, including a major thrust into the branch-office market. The world's largest IT vendor is rolling out a multi-vendor solution that reportedly eliminates the need for local IT resources.

At the heart of the connectivity solution is HP's 5400zl switch series which includes 6-slot and 12-slot chassis and associated zl modules and bundles, 10/100/1000Mb and 10Gb interfaces, integrated PoE+ on 10/100 and 10/100/1000Base-T ports. Bundled with the AllianceONE services ZL module, the switch starts at $8,294.

In addition to the branch-office solution, HP is announcing new network consulting services. The Network Visioning Workshop addresses the major challenges faced when transforming a network, such as complexity of existing environment, ability to adapt quickly to change, controlling costs and improving manageability. The Network Business Benefits Roadmap Service provides guidance on which network projects to prioritize through mapping out the business benefits. The Network Strategic Architecture Service optimizes network price/performance by providing clients with a simpler, standards-based network architecture and design.
