E-Mail Client:QUALCOMM Eudora Pro Email 4.0 Once upon a time, POP, with its client-side mail storage paradigm, dominated the e-mail landscape. Today, however, with the ever-increasing numbers of mobile users, IMAP has prompted a large portion of the POP user population to jump ship faster than those aboard the Titanic. QUALCOMM's Eudora Pro Email 4.0 has added IMAP support and continues its tradition of providing outstanding mail clients with robust feature sets and unparalleled design and layout. QUALCOMM also has added HTML integration, personalities, filter mechanisms and other enhancements to the product's already strong feature base. ACAP (Application Configuration Access Protocol), another new feature, allows remote configuration of an e-mail client. Using ACAP, users can store Eudora configuration information on a central ACAP server and configure Eudora instantly to move easily from machine to machine. Taking home honorable mentions are Netscape Communications Corp.'s Messenger (included with Netscape Communicator 4.04) and Microsoft Corp.'s Outlook Express (Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0). Messenger continues to provide adequate e-mail services to Netscape's Communicator suite, including IMAP support and extensive HTML integration. Microsoft Outlook Express, the new kid on the block, also supports IMAP.
