VPN Solution: TimeStep Permit Enterprise TimeStep Permit Enterprise combines cutting-edge IPSec security with wire speed data encryption and robust user management in an easy-to-manage unit. Gaining widespread third-party support from security leaders, Permit Enterprise is ready to provide secure, manageable IPSec virtual private networking. TimeStep is at the forefront of IPSec technology, supporting the latest IPSec and ISAKMP/Oakley drafts. IPSec tunneling is part of an overall TimeStep security strategy that includes partnerships with other key vendors. TimeStep has its own certificate authority functionality, but Permit Enterprise also works with Entrust's PKI (public key infrastructure) implementation for certification and management of X.509 certificates. This takes single sign-on a step closer to reality by allowing users' credentials to be maintained in a single repository accessible from multiple devices. VPNet's VSU-1010 VPN service unit and its VPN Manager Tool Suite also provide an outstanding VPN technology suite, but the product doesn't interoperate with any external PKI. Unlike the Permit Enterprise Gateway, however, the honorably mentioned VSU-1010 has been certified by the ICSA under the Cryptography Product Certification Program.
