A HEAVYWEIGHT SOLUTION
Data General Corp.'s Cluster-in-a-Box is more than a bundle of software and hardware. It's a preconfigured, ready-to-go failover solution. Data General has done a good job with the package's configuration and documentation and removes much of the complexity in the configuration and setup of VERITAS FirstWatch (which is included).
Cluster-in-a-Box is quite large. It uses modified Advanced Logic Research (ALR) systems and includes an enhanced BIOS, and a special diagnostic and remote administr
ator expansion card that facilitates remote maintenance and
diagnostics.
Data General's product is not for the budget-conscious (the price starts at $30,000), but rather for those who prefer not to configure the application, hardware and FirstWatch separately.
