Adapting To Your Environment
The Personal Computer Memory Card Industry Association (PCMCIA) sets the standards that enable PC Cards to work universally. Unfortunately, since there are many players in the PC Card market, and huge variances in PC Card adapters, not everything can be guaranteed as interoperable. The PC Card adapter is the controller your PC Cards use to interface with your laptop. To improve interoperability and guarantee connectivity , SystemSoft Corp. has developed a generic enabler that coexists with Microsoft Windows support. SystemSoft's CardWizard Pro runs on Windows95, 3.1x and NT, and is used as an OEM product by some 85 percent of laptop vendors to ensure universal connectivity. The enabler is software that interfaces your PC Card with the PCMCIA adapter in your s ystem. It lies on top of the card and socket services to ease configuration for a variety of PC Cards. Why not just use Microsoft's built-in PC Card support included with Windows95? With Microsoft's built-in support, all drivers must be 32 bit to take advantage of Plug-and-Play support. If you happen to have an unsupported card, you cannot take advantage of Windows95 PC Card support, and you must revert to using an older 16-bit Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) program with real-mode communication, creating the possibility of resource conflicts. With Card Wizard Pro, you can provide ubiquitous 32-bit Plug-and-Play support for all cards, even those from vendors that have not created 32-bit drivers to work with Windows95. |
