SERVERS & PERIPHERALS

Multiprocessor Intel-based Server: ClusterSystem 9000

T here wasn't a tremendous amount of innovation in the multiprocessor Intel Corp. microprocessor-based server market in 1996. Even though speeds went up and prices came down, many of the servers were merely repackaged motherboards from Intel, bundled with hard drives, memory and a network adapter.

NetFRAME's ClusterSystem 9000 has changed everything. With triple, peer Peripheral Component Interconnect buses and a unique hot-pluggable PCI system, the ClusterSystem 9000 supports all the industry-standard PCI peripherals, and that's good news for network administrators.

But just because it's moved toward standards doesn't mean NetFRA ME has eliminated those features that have always made the product great. There are a host of fault-tolerant features, making this system a good choice for high-availability applications. In addition, the ClusterSystem 9000, when paired with NetFRAME's ClusterData software, provides high-end fault tolerance in a Novell Intr anetWare network.

If it's capacity you seek, the ClusterSystem 9000 can support up to 318 hot-swappable drives (each 4.2 GB in size). Combine that with a maximum capacity of 2 GB of Error-Correcting Code (ECC) RAM and 16 PCI slots, and the ClusterSystem 9000 will grow to meet the large-scale applications.

ClusterSystem 9000 , $26,800 to $100,000, NetFRAME Systems, (800) SERVERS, www.netframe.com
