INTERNET/INTRANET

Internet Mail Client: Eudora Pro 3.0

I n the craze for intranet and standards-based information delivery, the Post Office Protocol (POP) has become the leading e-mail protocol. When it comes to experience and expertise, QUALCOMM's Eudora Pro 3.0 is the leader. It continues in its leadership role as our Well-Connected winner in the Internet Mail Client category.

POP may be a very simple protocol, but with a great interface to the data retrieved via POP, Eudora Pro stands out as an exceptionally powerful and easy-to-use tool. Eudora Pro also features a similarly useful interface on Windows and Macintosh.

With hierarchical message folders and robust automated filtering rules, users can fi lter and file mail automatically. Eudora Pro's flexibility is unbeatable with literally hundreds of switches and configurations to manage e-mail clients. The Internet mail client package scores additional points for being one of the first to handle Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) encapsulations and for moving f orward quickly with HTML-enhanced content. QUALCOMM says it plans to add more support for HTML, such as inline graphics.

For Internet Messaging Access Protocol version 4 (IMAP4) support, you'll have to look to our honorable mentions, NetManage's Z-Mail Pro and Netscape Communications Corp.'s Communicator 4.0 (e-mail portion). Netscape Mail also integrates a client for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directories, easing the task of finding e-mail addresses.
