Terisa Systems' SecureWeb Toolkit is developers' preferred tool for building security into Web applications. Although Terisa is largely responsible for the popularity of Secure Sockets Layer, the kit includes Secure HTTP and Secure Electronic Transactions (SET). SET is Schiffmann's current focus. SET is the card-payment protocol being standardized by MasterCard and Visa that dangles the carrot of making payments o ver the Internet easier and more secure for the cardholder, merchant and financial institutions. Schiffman plans to spend the next 12 months driving adoption of security mechanisms for the Web, not only confidentiality through encryption, but also authentication and nonrepudiation, which could ignite an electronic commerce boom. n Millennium Forecast: Mobility without compromise.
