Best Internet Access Application: Navigator 2.0 Drives Internet Access
Industry
Netscape is definitely, and constantly, redefining the way the average consumer
perceives information on the Internet. Navigator 2.0 adds support for many
new HTML tags, including frames, to make Web sites more flexible and organized.
In addition, Netscape has integrated POP-3 e-mail and NNTP news clients,
moving Navigator 2.0 toward the lofty classification of "Universal
Internet Interface."
Navigator 2.0 is also the first browser, with the exception of Hot Java,
to embrace the Java language, thereby enabling
the possibility of more interactive
Web content. Currently, some of the platforms, like the Macintosh, support
only Java Script and not Java language, but Netscape is hard at work making
all platforms support Sun's creation to its fullest.
Netscape is also driving the industry--faster than any standards committee
ever could--to implement ever more HTML definitions. Every competitor is
setting its sights on mirroring Netscape's efforts--proving imitation is
the most sincere form of flattery.
