Hot Macintosh Sites

Mac users in search of software may want to check out The Well-Connected Mac, http://www.macfaq.com/, for what journalist Staci D. Kramer calls "a treasure trove of links to Mac sites."

Yellow Pages For The Media

For media and media resources, including station lists, networks, and show and regulatory information, arranged by subject, go to the "Yellow Pages" at: http://www.webcom.com/~nlnnet/yellowp.html.

News On The Net

What are newspapers doing on and about the Internet? Read Steve Outing's column every weekday at http://www.mediainfo.com/edpub.

Over the past few months, members of the "inet-news" mailing list have posted addresses for lots of news sources on the Internet. But you don't have to wade through hundreds of messages. Thanks to Jonathan R.A. Maier you can see and use a summary list, at: http://www-leland.stanford.edu/~jmaier/.

If you're looking for HTML informati on, don't overlook the source: files accumulated in UIUC, where Mosaic was birthed. Get information on editors, style guides, converters and more, all from: http://union.ncsa.uiuc.edu:80/HyperNews/get/www/html.html.

For an easy-to-read style guide to HTML, plus links of use to more experienced Web users, see Macmillian HTML Workshop, at http://www.mcp. com/general/workshop.

Sites For Scripting Support

If you create, own or manage Web content, you may want to explore the CGI-BIN scripts written by Matt Kruse. He's made available scripts for doing access count display, statistical analysis, an easy HTML table generator, indexing and commenting of Web pages, and more.

One script that any Internet user may find useful is the mail-links extractor, which pulls out all WWW URLs it finds in your mailbox and adds them to your hotlist. These scripts, and others, are available at: http:// web.sau.edu/~mkruse/ www/scripts/.
