Navy Knowledge Online
Article Debuts: Sept. 18, 2003 edition of Network Computing Magazine

Authors: David Joachim and Jonathan Feldman

Objective: Show how the U.S. Navy is using KM (knowledge management) to transform the way it trains sailors and prepares them to fight a new breed of enemy that is decentralized and mobile. Despite a shoestring budget, a skeletal staff and pockets of fierce resistance within the Navy ranks, Navy Knowledge Online, as it is called, has become one of the biggest KM portals around, with around 165,000 registered users.
