Hewlett-Packard Co. HP LaserJet 1300 and 2300 Series
HP has initiated new products and services that make a compelling case for small and midsize businesses to invest in HP printing and imaging solutions. New LaserJet 1300 and 2300 series printers promise 20 to 25 pages per minute with only 8 to 10 seconds to the first page out using HP's instant-on fuser technology. In addition, HP has introduced an interactive, online imaging and printing expertise center that offers business customers 24x7 support. The company has reduced the costs of printing and imaging solutions such as its LaserJet 4200 models and Digital Projector xb31, and is offering qualified customers financing programs for HP solutions.

Starts at $399. Hewlett-Packard Co., (800) 474-6836, (650) 857-1501. www.hp.com

IntelliReach MessageArchive 2.0
IntelliReach's archiving solution uses technology from BridgeHead Software to archive e-mail automatically based on enterprise requirements. This will be especially appealing for enterprises looking to comply with federal and state regulations in storing and accessing data in a message store. MessageArchive 2.0 lets you index, archive, retrieve and remove e-mail, as well as audit policy changes and access to the system. The solution is available for Microsoft Exchange and will be available for Novell GroupWise later this quarter.

Starts at $7,500 per user. IntelliReach Corp., (781) 407-9899, (800) 219-9838. www.intellireach.com

Pedestal Software SecurityExpressions 3.0
This agentless solution manages policies for password rules, user permissions and registry settings across all servers, workstations and desktops. New to 3.0 is a Web console that lets auditors or others without admin privileges scan systems for compliance without breaching security. It also offers a distributed proxy that communicates with the software via SSL and extends scanning capabilities across firewalls and Internet.

Starts at $495 for servers and $30 for workstations. Pedestal Software, (888) 664-7174, (617) 928-5550. www.pedestalsoftware.com

SnapGear PCI630
Internet security promises to be bolstered by SnapGear's new VPN Firewall PCI card, which the company claims is the first fully isolated stateful firewall PCI device. All firewall and VPN processes are off-loaded from the host computer to the PCI card, allowing for higher security with a smaller footprint. The PCI630 lets admins isolate affected systems independently. Additionally, DMZ-based servers can use two cards to sandwich remote access to the network between two VPN firewall appliances.

Starts at $299. SnapGear, (801) 282-8492. www.snapgear.com
