How to Choose A GNU/Linux Distribution:

1. Determine which distributions are supported by your strategic hardware vendor.

2. Establish what types of applications you'll be running on your GNU/Linux distribution and whether the vendor's included applications will suffice.

3. Ascertain what enterprise-class infrastructure support you will need (backup, software distribution and so on) and which vendors' solutions support GNU/Linux distributions.

4. Assess any management needs, such as monitoring and remote access, that may be required by your internal infrastructure and check each vendor's solution for distribution support.

5. Find out what technical support options are available from the distribution vendor or via third-party Linux support services.

6. Ask if the distribution vendor provides training and/or education. Is training available elsewhere?
