WAN Switch
NetReality WiseWan
Improved. NetReality has made a series of enhancements to its WiseWan NAPS (Network Application Priority Switch), including the addition of a P2Pe (Peer-to-Peer Engine). P2Pe offers the ability to quickly identify bandwidth-hogging P2P protocols. Administrators can then add the newly identified P2P traffic to a list of supported protocols, and immediately begin applying policies based on that new protocol. The latest release can detect file-sharing traffic from Kazaa, Audiogalaxy, Gnutella and Morpheus clients automatically. Administrators can manage such traffic by blocking the transfers or by employing time-based restrictions either dynamically (when the NAPS determines there is sufficient bandwidth to sustain such transfers) or during specific days and time periods. Soon to be included in WiseWan is the capability to detect peer-to-peer transactions that may be occurring via an HTTP tunnel.
