Online Only: Legacy Application Development Software
Micro Focus: EnterpriseLink with Component Generator
Improved. If you want to Web-enable your legacy data and applications, check out the latest EnterpriseLink with Component Generator software from Micro Focus, an enterprise development company for legacy systems. EnterpriseLink with Component Generator is an integration server that takes legacy applications written in languages such as COBOL to the Web, then translates them so they can be read for any client, from PCs to wireless devices.

Micro Focus says that for companies using Unix or Windows environments, projects can be completed up to 25 times faster with this version of EnterpriseLink than with Java recoding. The Component Generator allows companies with multiple presences to link everyone with legacy data and applications, and a recent partnership with Novarra makes it possible for users to access legacy information via remote clients. Host screens can be mapped to COM or Enterprise JavaBeans objects as well as Web pages or XML files for easy transference. Failover, load-balancing and non-hierarchical clustering abilities have been added to optimize performance.

Available: Now. Pricing is tiered and depends on deployment. The company currently sells a package that includes a 5-seat developer kit and deployment for 200 concurrent users for $85K.
