IP Management InfoBlox DNS One version 2.0 Improved. InfoBlox has done it again with its recently released InfoBlox DNS One 2.0. We wrote a Sneak Preview on version 1.1 in March and found it to be an exceptional IP management device (http://www.nwc.com/1205/1205sp5.html). InfoBlox assures us that in addition to the user friendly interface and super user support, plus its zone and high level of control for security we saw in the previous version we tested, they have addressed some of the negative issues we brought up in our earlier Sneak Preview. One of the biggest missing pieces in the previous version was DDNS (Dynamic DNS) support, which is now available in version 2.0. For use of more than one InfoBlox, multiple 10/100 Ethernet ports have been added to ensure high availability. The bulk-naming feature has also been improved, making the admins job a little easier. Additionally, user tracking makes it easier to find and fix breaks in the system. DNS Stats reporting helps you find the source of DNS hits, which is especially useful to track the source of a DoS attack. The DHCP Stats feature helps you determine if you need to add more capacity by showing you the percentage of usage. You can also filter zones and networks per user. LDAP support has been added as well.
