Online Only: Before ERP Training Begins

Your ERP implementation is about to get under way. Now you're ready to train your IT staff and users. Here are some questions you should ask your training consultant or ERP vendor:

  • Who's responsible for training the IT staff? Who's responsible for training end users?

  • How technical is the training for end users?

  • What is the training schedule? How can I ensure that training takes place just before the systems go live so users don't forget much of what they've learned?

  • What are the credentials of the trainer or content developer?

  • Will the lessons be tailored to our system or is the training program based on plain-vanilla ERP software?

  • If content is customized, how will the trainer develop the content for our training program?

  • Does the total cost of training include travel and lodging for the trainer? Are any discounts available? For example, is there a discount if we use a virtual classroom?
