Methodology
Network Computing designed this survey in partnership with
the editors at InformationWeek Research. The survey was posted
on the Web in February 2001. Links were posted on the Web
sites of InternetWeek, Network Computing, Planet IT, TechWeb,
Wall Street & Technology, Insurance & Technology,
Dr. Dobbs, Software Magazine, and Sys Admin. It was also promoted
in each publications daily and/or weekly newsletters.
In addition, personalized e-mail with an embedded link to
the survey was sent to nearly 300,000 subscribers of the various
publications.
The information
found herein is based on responses from 1,413 IT professionals
to date. Unemployed, freelance and part-time IT workers were
excluded from the results as were respondents from outside
the United States.
