Network Computing conducted a nationwide salary survey of 1,400 IT managers and staff in conjunction with InformationWeek, its sister publication. Additional economic analysis was provided in cooperation with researchers at the Software Industry Center at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

  1. Do you think your employer is successful at building employee loyalty?

  12. Some of the biggest cities pay the highest base salaries for IT manager and staff jobs, with San Francisco leading the way.

  13. The highest salaries, bonuses and other cash compensation go to IT managers and staff in big cities, such as San Francisco, New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Dallas.
