Storage
Exabyte Corp. 430 M2 Tape Library
New. The latest tape library offering from Exabyte--the 430 M2 (Mammoth-2)--is designed to accommodate multiple tape-drive technologies. Aimed at the departmental and workgroup markets, the 430 holds up to four M2 tape drives and 30 data cartridges, yet takes up only five units of rack space. It delivers up to 1.8 terabytes (4.5 TB compressed) of capacity and 173 GB per hour (432 GB/hour compressed) of data throughput. It's scalable, so you can start with as little as one drive and 10 cartridges and build from there as your storage needs expand. With that growth in mind, the unit is designed to fit into a SAN (storage-area network): It offers Ethernet connectivity, Exabyte Library Monitor software and Fibre Channel interface options, among other features.
Available: Now. Starts at $22,000.
