Stories We Wish We'd Never Run

The Bottom 4

OK, so we're not perfect. We pushed "push" technology early on, and we continued to cover it even after it had died. While ISDN appeared to have support in those early days, the technology has since been overtaken by newer, less costly options. And token ring died a merciful death, but not before trying to beat Ethernet at its own game (switching).

And then there's our cover story of September 15, 1995, "WINevitable." We were right about Microsoft Windows but oh, how we wish we'd been wrong.

Here's what made the list:

1) May 15, 1996 "ISDN: PRIme for the Enterprise"

2) May 1, 1995 "ISDN Does It All"

3) September 1, 1995 "Switching to Token Ring"

4) August 15, 1997 "Push"
