Windows NT Terminal Server Edition and Citrix MetaFrame: Competitive or Complementary? For MetaFrame extended features chart in PDF format. Citrix Systems is a pioneer in the market for thin Windows computing. The vendor got its start developing remote-access servers running on IBM OS/2 and its fortunes rose dramatically with the introduction of its WinFrame products, which brought multiuser capabilities to NT. But now that Windows NT TSE (Terminal Server Edition) has arrived, do you need Citrix? Check the accompanying matrix to get a feel for some of the extended features that may lead you to purchase MetaFrame. If you don't need the extended features, you're better off with TSE. Remember, MetaFrame is not a standalone product and requires TSE to function. So the real choice is purchasing TSE alone, or purchasing both TSE and MetaFrame. |
